Gotta couple of interesting webpages for you to have a look at:
"No one is looking foward to the release of Doom III more than Greg Tanner. Greg, a 27-year-old computer gamer, intends to quit his job, sell his car, and break-up with his girlfriend when iD Software's new first-person action game is released.

Greg's reasoning is sound. He doesn't want to be burdened with real-life issues, which would only distract him from his computer-gaming goals."
Check the full thing out over on The Toque. Next up is a preview (the words 'written by a HL2 fanboy who really doesn't understand very much about games/computers and technology in general' comes to mind, but what the hell):
"Doom 3 is crippled by an obsession with graphics. Vertex shaders are not the holy grail of grames, nor are realtime shadows. ID should start thinking about features like enemy AI, physics and more realistic character animation."
Hmm laughing see how many mistakes (cough pixel shaders *not* vertex shaders for example) you can find in the complete preview. wink
